Dean’s long-stranding, keen interest in fostering entrepreneurship and assisting early- and growth-stage companies enables him to effectively advise clients in his role as Managing Director of Canadian Ventures Inc.
His areas of expertise, gained through 25 years of consulting, include completing numerous feasibility studies, business plans, due diligence reports, business valuations, and particularly financings, mergers, acquisitions and other transactions. Clients appreciate and depend upon Dean’s comprehensive skills and knowledge base as he helps them to research, strategize, formulate and implement agency, business and corporate initiatives.
Dean has successfully advised numerous private companies, dozens of publicly-listed corporations and many economic development agencies in a senior advisory, corporate finance, and strategic transaction role. He has conducted and participated in an impressive number of complex research, valuation, planning, structuring, financings, transactions, and other business assignments. As well, he has capably created and implemented a variety of disclosure documents and professional campaigns to source, negotiate and close financings, joint ventures, strategic transactions, and other strategic initiatives.
Prior to founding Canadian Ventures Inc., he managed consulting services for a mid-market mergers and acquisitions firm, and before that; he managed the Calgary regional office of a boutique investment bank. Previous to this position, he was an independent management consultant, servicing clients in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. At the start of his professional career, he managed a regional office in Ottawa, Ontario for an international engineering and environmental firm.
Dean obtained his Bachelor of Science (Honors, 1986) from the University of Alberta and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Calgary (1997).
